Tom’s Barn is the original - and quite uniquely charming - of our two romantic coliday cottages for two in the Derbyshire Peak District. It has developed a loyal following who love the modern luxuries and old-fashioned cosiness. They also appreciate finding a Five Star cottage which also accepts dogs. We welcome young babes in arms as long as they are not mobile! It is not suitable for toddlers, children or the disabled. Downstairs is quarry-tiled floor throughout, with a large rug by the fire in the sitting room. The painted pine kitchen is fully equipped, with everything a keen cook might need, and there is a pine table and four chairs by the window. In the sitting room a comfortable sofa and chairs face the log burner. We provide a flat screen TV (with FreeSat), DVD etc, mini hi-fi, plenty of books and games, and some tapes, CDs and DVDs. There is wireless internet access. Wooden open-tread stairs lead to the galleried bedroom. Here there is a king size Vi-Spring bed, digital bedsiode radio and wall mounted TV. The en suite bathroom with tumbled marble floor and 2-seater whirlpool bath is a grat attraction. A surprise feature is the rather low original roof truss – which to satisfy the powers that be we have had padded in leather! Close to the cottage there is a private cottage garden area for your own use, with a wooden picnic table, Weber barbecue and portable sun parasol. Parking space for your car is nearby, within the grounds. We welcome (well-behaved) dogs in Tom's Barn, at a cost of £20 per dog per stay. There is a quiet lane immediately behind the house ideal for early morning dog walking, and a 'dog poo' bin just across from the back gate. Parwich is a typical small village in the Peak National Park. It nestles in a hollow well away from main roads and consists of imestone farms, houses and cottages and winding ginells, all refreshingly facing in opposite directions. There is a church, a pub with small shop, a cricket ground, tennis courts and a bowling green. Parwich lies within a wonderful walking area and is close to many beauty spots and visitor attractions. Our prices are fully inclusive: once you have paid the rent (and for your newspaper if you have ordered one) there will be nothing more to worry about. Our rates include all heating and lighting, logs for the log burner, bedlinen, towels and bath robes, bathroom and cleaning 'basics' that we provide and kitchen store cupboard provisions. We also always leave you a loaf of bread, half a dozen fresh eggs, a pint of milk and some butter to start you off; you will also find a welcome tea tray with freshly baked cake or biscuits, and in the summer you'll even find a jug of fresh herbs from the garden; "...quite simply the best self-catering accommodation we have found.'
